Strength and Power in Numbers for the MRI

The Ontario Provincial Command Branches and Ladies’ Auxiliaries Charitable Foundation Award PRH Foundation $7,000 Grant

(Pembroke) – On behalf of the Ontario Provincial Command Branches and Ladies Auxiliaries Charitable Foundation, the Pembroke Legion (Branch 72) presented the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation with a grant of $7,000 towards the MRI Image Matters campaign.

“We are proud to continue the Legion’s tradition of being wholly invested in the well-being of our community, including supporting our regional hospital,” shared Brady Stewart, Branch 72 President. “As ardent supporters of our regional hospital, we have contributed to the Building campaign, the Dialysis campaign, as well as the MRI Image Matters campaign.”

In 2015, to help ease the onus on our region, the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation applied for a grant through the Ontario Provincial Command Branches and Ladies Auxiliaries Charitable Foundation in support of the MRI fundraising initiative. Since its inception in 1979, the Ontario Provincial Command has awarded 2,179 grants over $15,338,500.00 in charitable donations towards veterans’ welfare, medical equipment, bursaries, and programs for aging veterans and more.

“As an organization, Branch 72 and all Legions are proud to continue to invest in the well-being of our Veterans, their spouses and families, and our communities,” said Stan Halliday, District Commander. “The Royal Canadian Legion has just over 1,400 branches across Canada with over 283,700 members, but we could always use a few more! Anybody can join the Legion and be a part of our members’ efforts to build up our communities.”

“In bringing an MRI to our rural teaching hospital, we were fortunate and grateful to receive the support of five local Legion Branches in addition to this grant,” said Nancy Warren, Executive Director of the PRH Foundation. “Our local Legion Branches along with the Ladies Auxiliaries have contributed over $37,000 towards MRI.”
