Grand Prize Winner! July 2024

The Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation is excited to announce that the Ace of Spades has been “caught” on week #26 in their Catch the Ace lottery supporting the highest priority equipment needs at the Pembroke Regional Hospital. The lucky winner, Paula Fischer of Mackey, took home an amazing prize of $330,646! Paula’s winning ticket #Y-1017378 was drawn from the online electronic generator, and she chose Card #9 which revealed the Ace of Spades!

Paula expressed her excitement, telling the Foundation staff, “I was in total shock! You always dream of having a big win but never believe it will happen. I have been playing off and on since they started Catch the Ace and always thought that even if I didn’t win I am still supporting a good cause. This certainly was a dream come true. The best $20 I have ever spent; I am so grateful.

PRH Foundation Executive Director, Roger Martin said that the Foundation is very proud of everyone who helped raise an incredible $525,168 for the PRH Foundation. We are super excited that everyone who took part in this round of CTA has been able to see how successful only 26 weeks can be, which can only make the next CTA that much more exciting! Every ticket sold helps our hospital, so thank you all! A huge congratulations to Paula for her big win and catching that elusive Ace of Spades!

Over the 26-week span of the lottery, a total of $195,000 in weekly prizes was presented to 25 winners and of course the Jackpot of $330,646 was given to the grand prize winner.

“Our Foundation’s most recent edition of Catch the Ace created some real excitement throughout our region in addition to raising an incredible amount of money for our hospital,” said PRH President and CEO Sabine Mersmann. We can't express enough how important these funds are to the future of health care in our community and I am truly grateful to everyone who participated in Catch the Ace and ultimately contributed to our health care facility. The investments we are able to make with these funds will ensure that we can care for patients in our community using the newest technology and most up to date equipment,” she said.

PRH Foundation Board Chair Lisa Edmonds said it was a real treat to meet Paula! Her story reminded me of how Catch the Ace is a win-win. A win for this local lady and her family and a win for local health care. Thank you to all who support Catch the Ace. Congratulations to Paula – so well deserved.

Stay tuned for updates regarding the next round of Catch the Ace in support of the Pembroke Regional Hospital, which will be announced in early August.

Mr. Martin added, “Thank you to ALL our supporters, and we will see you when the deck gets shuffled for the next Catch the Ace folks!”
