Virtual Stay-at-Home “Un-Gala” Launches To Support Regional Hospital

As Ontarians gradually expand their social bubbles, the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation will host a virtual gala on October 17th that serves as an opportunity for attendees to reconnect with friends and loved ones.

The ticketed event, dubbed a virtual “Un-Gala @ Home”, will be a gala experience that can be enjoyed from home featuring a four-course (ready-to-eat) dinner specially prepared by Ullrich’s, a paired bottle of wine (one/couple) and a bouquet of flowers for the dining table – all available for pick-up or delivery.

Early bird ticket-purchasers will also be entered into a draw for a customized dining room transformation for the night of the Un-Gala, by Parvati & Athena Events.

While dining, Un-Gala participants will be able to go online to enjoy pre-recorded “live” entertainment by Jason Blaine, Sierra Levesque, Ben and Gillan Rutz, our very own Dr. Margarita Lianeri and more, while online testimonials from PRH staff, key sponsors and patients will round out the programme.

Un-Gala @ Home Committee Chair, Laura Carroll described the vision of this charity event. “This year would have marked the 15th anniversary of the Black & White Gala – an annual celebration of our local health care accomplishments. Instead of a black-tie event at a physical venue, the Un-Gala @ Home is an occasion for couples, families, friends and neighbours to gather together in the comfort of their homes, cottages, boats or backyards to celebrate how far we’ve all come since this pandemic brought all of our lives to a standstill.”

Remarking on the creation of the Un-Gala @ Home, Ms. Carroll said, “We surveyed past Gala sponsors and attendees at random and the responses for a virtual gala were encouraging. Many supporters wanted us to offer a way for them to continue supporting their community in a meaningful way, similar to the hallmark celebratory spirit of the Black & White Gala.”

Tickets for the “Un-Gala @ Home” event which go on sale August 4th at noon are $125 per person and can be purchased by visiting www.prhfoundation.com and selecting “Un-Gala @ Home Tickets”.

PRHF Executive Director Roger Martin commented on the importance of continued support for the Pembroke Regional Hospital. “I’m deeply grateful for the caring individuals and businesses – past and present – whose donations, gifts and grants have helped enable our regional hospital to care for the community during a global pandemic. Funds raised for the PRHF serve our region to purchase medical and diagnostic equipment, expand health care services and programs and effectively take care of our communities,” Mr. Martin said. Donations and proceeds from the Un-Gala @ Home will go towards the Cutting Edge Campaign.
