(Pembroke) A recent $5,000 donation from the Royal Canadian Legion Pembroke branch 72 will go towards the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation’s Cutting Edge Campaign to advance surgical/orthopaedic care in our Region.
The Royal Canadian Legion hosts many fundraising events throughout the year, including the annual Poppy Drive. Funds raised go towards grants and bursaries, supplying specialized articles (such as wheelchairs and artificial limbs) to individuals, equipment for hospitals (otherwise not covered in their budget), and many more services to veterans and their families and to the community.
“Through the dedication of our volunteer Legion members and community support we are proud to contribute to the Cutting Edge Campaign,” said Pembroke Legion President, Stan Halliday.
“We are thankful for the continued generosity of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 72,” said PRHF Executive Director, Nancy Warren.
“Since 2002, the Royal Canadian Legion Pembroke branch has invested in the building expansion, the Dialysis Unit, the Regional MRI and, with this recent donation, they will be supporting local access to orthopaedic care at our Regional Hospital,” continued Mrs. Warren.
